The cost of college can be a barrier for many families.
Applying for scholarships is a great way to lower college costs . There are a variety of scholarships available to Quad Cities families through your local city foundation, high school counseling office, employer, financial institutions and community based organizations.
National scholarships are also another great choice!
You want to make sure you also ask the colleges you're considering attending about what types of scholarships they offer and how to apply. There are a variety of scholarships available for all types of students.
Students must be willing to put in time, effort and work when applying for scholarships. Most scholarships become available in the Fall through early Spring so make sure you keep a record of those deadlines as they don't change from year to year. This will make it easy to start the process again during your Freshman year of college.
